GE8151 Problem Solving and Python Programming Notes

GE8151 PROBLEM SOLVING AND PYTHON PROGRAMMING NOTES

Python is a language with a simple syntax, and a powerful set of libraries. It is an interpreted language, with a rich programming environment, including a robust debugger and profiler. While it is easy for beginners to learn, it is widely used in many scientific areas for data exploration. This course is an introduction to the Python programming language for students without prior programming experience. The below given notes are some useful materials to learn more about python

Python Programming

Python is a widely used high-level programming language for general-purpose programming, created by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991. An interpreted language, Python has a design philosophy that emphasizes code readability (notably using whitespace indentation to delimit code blocks rather than curly brackets or keywords), and a syntax that allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than might be used in languages such as C++ or Java. The language provides constructs intended to enable writing clear programs on both a small and large scale.
Python features a dynamic type system and automatic memory management and supports multiple programming paradigms, including object-oriented, imperative, functional programming, and procedural styles.
Python interpreters are available for many operating systems, allowing Python code to run on a wide variety of systems. CPython, the reference implementation of Python, is open source software and has a community-based development model, as do nearly all of its variant implementations. CPython is managed by the non-profit Python Software Foundation.

Highlights of Anna University Regulation 2017 Syllabus Exam Patterns

  •           Anna University has taken away the system of arrears from the current academic year. Instead, students would have to re-register and reappear for exams they had not passed in a semester, when the subject is offered next.

  •       The students must, however, appear for all the internal tests held for the subject through the semester and may sit in a class when the subject is being taught if they wish, but it is not compulsory. The rule comes into force in all affiliated colleges from the current academic year that starts on September 1, said T.V. Geetha, Dean, College of Engineering.

  •          Based on the guidelines issued by the All India Council for Technical Education, the University has introduced new categories of courses in humanities and social sciences; basic sciences; engineering sciences; professional core; and professional electives.

  •          First year, they will learn advanced programming language python instead of C, C++. Chemistry has been removed from the second semester as per the suggestion by the board of studies.

  •       Candidates will be offered a set of employability enhancement courses such as internship, participation in seminars, professional practices, summer project, case study and industrial/practical training as part of the curriculum.

  •         A set of value added courses has also been introduced. The courses will be listed in the mark list with a grade. These courses should be in addition to the total credit requirement prescribed in the curriculum required for a degree. The courses should not include areas already covered as core or elective.

  •        Students may take one online course from the list approved by the Centre for Academic courses. Students will be evaluated through end-semester exams that will be conducted by Anna University.

  •          Students would be allowed to register only for 36 credit hours in the third year (5th and 6th semester); including the courses they may have failed. Attendance is not compulsory but he has to redo the internal exam and can only appear for semester exam along with the current students.

  •         Bright students can take the eighth-semester courses in advance and carry out their final semester project for six months in the industry. Students can be permitted to take one year break to work in the industry. Students who finish the course in five years also can get first class with distinction provided CGPA is 8.50

  •      Engineering students can choose courses from other engineering branches. For instance, if a Civil Engineering students wish to study an Electrical Engineering subject, he can choose that subject as an elective.

Masters Engineering Programs on BIG DATA in INDIA

The recent years have witnessed a tremendous technological growth in managing, organizing and harnessing the power of large scale data. Big Data and Data analytics are playing an important role in defining the vision in every sphere of life. There is no human institution not influenced by big data and analytics. Business, government, healthcare, education and the society as a whole, derives insights from the historical data. Analytics helps in predicting potential opportunities as well as predicting the possible future.
Big Data is about providing efficient technological “solution stacks” to organize and access large scale data. Data Analytics is about combining principles and techniques from mathematics, computer science and machine learning to predict possibilities as well as to prescribe actions.

Currently Anna university, VIT University and Manipal university have started Masters Engineering program on Big data Analytics

Anna University - M.E. computer science and Engineering with specialization in Big Data Analytics

VIT University - M.Tech computer science and Engineering with specialization in Big Data Analytics

Manipal University - M.E. in Big Data and Data Analytics

Reva University - M. Tech. in Data Engineering and Cloud Computing
